The Grafico team were welcomed back to The Block for the 4th consecutive season this year working on a mega task ahead for the contestants. 5 homes were relocated from various areas in Melbourne to a vacant block in Elsternwick Victoria. See below for a run down of what has been revealed so far and be sure to stay tuned to Channel 9 to see more amazing renovation inspiration!
WEEK 1: 48hr Challenge
Contestants Sticks & Wombat relied on Grafico to urgently print a panel of one of Stick’s brilliant photos. The panel was delivered just in the nick of time by one of our team and they went on to successfully complete a great room in only 48hours!
WEEK 2: BATHROOM WEEK
A stressful week for the contestants with a full bathroom to be completed in only one week! Once again Sticks & Wombat called upon the Grafico team to create a ‘wow’ factor feature in their bathroom. Our custom print Italian mosaic tiles “MOSAICO DIGITALE” were chosen in a black and white tree silhouette. The tiles were framed as a central feature in the shower area which further elongated the beautiful high ceilings. A stellar effort for all involved to bring this amazing bathroom to life in only one week.
Mosaico Digitale are custom printed mosaic tiles made in Italy using a special resin film overlaying a digital print. This allows the client to have almost ANY image printed and additional the shape of the tile is also fully customisable. Sticks & Wombat chose the classic 20x20mm shape however almost any shape is possible using this revolutionary product. For more information on Mosaico Digitale click here.

WEEK 3: KIDS BEDROOM WEEK
Kids bedroom week was a chance for all teams to have some fun showing off their inner child. Sticks & Wombat chose a popular design called “Alessia” from our Kids Wallpaper Range. The warm grey lines over white background is sophisticated and not too child like ensuring it lasts well in to the years from baby to teen! See our whole kids wallpaper range HERE
WEEK 4: Ronald McDonald House Charity Challenge
This week’s challenge saw all couples involved in a great cause….transforming 4 rooms at the Ronald McDonald House in Parkville. Designed to help children’s families have a tranquil supporting place to stay whilst their child goes through the difficult journey at the near by Children’s Hospital.
Clint & Hannah were first up contacting us for some urgent wall coverings consulting! Damian & Krysa from our team raced (literally) down to Parkville to design the custom print wallpaper. A beautiful clouds image was chosen to add tranquility and impact as you enter the room.
Sticks & Wombat + Josh & Elyse also contacted our team and using Stick’s wonderful photography we created a number of super wide format artwork panel prints to be applied to the walls.
At this stage it all seemed easy HOWEVER The Block being The Block kept us certainly on our toes with a less than 5 hour deadline to complete ALL the rooms! Our team shifted in to overdrive printing all the custom print wallpaper + artwork panels in record time. Our install team then (once again) literally RAN down to Parkville to install the panels and wallpaper! Who needs a team building exercise when you’re on The Block! Our team really came together to make the deadline for the teams. Bec Judd was the guest judge for the rooms and gave the teams amazing praise for our ‘hero’ wallpaper along with the artwork panels. It was Josh & Elyse who took out the win for the Challenge with their sophisticated ‘luxury hotel’ inspired room.
We were very excited to work with all the teams on this challenge for an amazing cause!
WEEK 4: Charity Auction Challenge
This week Hannah & Clint contacted our team to donate some of our products for an amazing cause – supporting the Sacred Heart Mission.
Hannah & Client came past our office/warehouse along with The Block film crew to pick up the donation and in return we were handed a beautiful solid (and heavy!) metal gnome! The product was then auctioned at a live event where some of our team attended amongst a wide range of celebrities from Channel 9 and past Block contestants! Such a great event with over $150,000 raised in one night! We’re always happy to be a part of great causes like this.
The gnome now sits pride of place in our office for all to see! Come and say hello to The Block gnome next time you visit our team!
WEEK 6: Master Bedroom Suite
The ‘jewel in the crown’ of these properties, the master suite! Working with Hannah & Clint our team designed a feature mural using our textured canvas self-adhesive wallpaper. The image chosen was artist “Holly Graham”‘s “Peonies” image which is deep, dark and moody with amazing rich colours. Coupled with Hannah’s styling of the room with dusty pinks, plums and velvets, the finished result is stunning. The pictures do not do it justice! Great comments from all the judges this week, well done Hannah & Clint, great to work with you again!
WEEK 8: Re-Do Bedroom Week
Working again with the amazing duo Hannah & Clint our design team worked with Hannah to create a custom made black and white floral wallpaper to align with the other floral wallpapers already installed in the house. A beautiful watercolour/sktech image of flowers was designed and printed to our beautifully textured canvas removable wallpaper. An outstanding result and definitely one of our floral favourites to set the trend for 2017 and beyond!
